The Automation and Technology Department

Explore the development and reporting of real-time and historical databases, interface design, networking, higher-level programming languages, and object models. SAFE focuses on safety issues related to automation. SAFE’s subcommittees cover topics including safety instrumented systems, fire and gas systems, burner management systems, personnel safety, software, and security. TELCOM pertains to networking equipment and software programming involved with transmitting data. The work includes data transmission from measuring and computing systems by telemetering means (direct wire, leased lines, microwave radio, and others), as well as data acquisition at processing centers.
