Bernard Williams, Director of Sales Engineering and contributing technology consultant for Prime Technologies Inc., spoke on the importance of calibration and how software can ease its proper implementation. He began by covering the issues that drive calibration for regulatory and process industries. Williams stressed the benefits and return on investment that accrue from of a well-managed and state-of-the-art calibration solution.

Some of the points made include:

  • Calibration is not just another maintenance activity; it is inherently more rigorous and technically concise. It demands a more complex and capable software system to support the activity.
  • Reliable Asset Management and record keeping are key features of calibration management. The software selected should support complete details for all assets being supervised.
  • Good software from a reputable and experienced vendor easily controls and evaluates calibration, validation and maintenance activities.

Williams concluded with a sampling of calibration success stories based on his 35 years of engineering and management experience with leading-edge technology companies.
