May meeting proves great success; scholarships awarded

Terry Ives discusses state of the ISA

The May 2012 meeting, held at the Endress + Hauser facility in Chalfont, was a great success. Attendance numbered more than 35, including scholarship recipients and their family members. The hosts, Rockwell Automation and Endress + Hauser provided a great free meal (with wine and beer no less) and guided a tour of the Process Training Unit. Our meeting was held  in conjunction with a reception for attendees for the Process Solutions Summit at the facility–a two-day event.

Terry Ives, President of Ives Equipment and President-Elect of ISA, discussed the state of our technical society and some of the issues it faces as we move forward.

Terry Ives, 3rd Generation owner & President of Ives Equipment Corporation

Terry is presently International President Elect of ISA coming off the Secretary of our Society. He is passionate about helping ISA’s future. With Ives Equipment since 1985, Terry has led his company as President and owner leading since 1998. With a dedicated career in the automation industry, Terry has also been involved with leadership roles in local, District and National society positions of ISA, Boy Scouts of America, YMCA, Young Presidents Organization, as well as other organizations. An avid fishing and boating proponent, he helps to run Mid Atlantic region Marlin Tournaments. Terry has received numerous ISA awards over the years and is very proud to continue the tradition well established by his Father, Uncle and Grandfather with ISA leadership — and will be third of his family to take the helm as the International President.

C. Blair Ives, Jr.

Ives, of Bryn Mawr, died March 10, 2012 at his home. He was born August 25, 1934, in Brockton, Massachusetts, the son of the late Clifford B. Ives and Evelyn Pollard. He was the oldest of three siblings including his brother Robert Ives and his sister Margaret (Ives) Ward.

He graduated from Lafayette College in 1957 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering. He remains a member of the Marquis Society of Lafayette. On October 29, 1960, he married Mary Lynne Grove in St. David’s, Pennsylvania.

He worked for Moore Products for three years until 1960, when Blair joined the Ives Equipment Corporation which had been started by his father in Narberth, Pennsylvania. Upon the death of his father, Blair became President in 1970. The company was moved to King of Prussia, PA in 1979 where it remains today. Under his leadership, the company grew from approximately 20 employees to an excess of 100.

ISPE Delaware Valley Chapter cordially invites you to their March Education Event:

ISPE/ASME Cross-industry Energy Savings Perspectives

March 28 – 5:30 – 9:00 pm

The ISPE-DVC Education Committee is holding their March Education Session in conjunction with ASME to provide a cross-industry perspective on Energy Savings.  The session will be held at The Center of Engineering Education and Research – CEER at Villanova University on Wednesday, March 28, and it will run from 5:30-9:00pm.

A light dinner will be provided.  Topics will focus on energy savings from the perspective of in the food industry, the lighting industry, and the steam/heating industry.

DVC plans to assist companies with employee training during the economic downturn, as well as training for Students and Young Professionals, by offering monthly education sessions at a reduced price of $40 for members and $60 for non-members.

As with the monthly Program Meetings, students and faculty from local universities can attend free of charge.  Additionally,   this session will be worth 3 PDHs to PA PEs.
